What to know before you specify
Specify a floor, not a grade
Write your specification as a floor on each axis — "eye-clean, near-colourless, excellent cut, GIA certified, 0.90–1.00 ct" — rather than a single letter grade. A floor gives sourcing room to work efficiently while protecting exactly what your customer sees across a counter. A single letter grade is a negotiating position that gets revisited at sampling.
Running both programmes through one supplier
Splitting natural and lab-grown across two manufacturers fragments your specification, your QC standard and your lead times, and your customer sees the seam. Running both through one floor keeps the setters, the finish and the documentation identical regardless of stone origin.
Verification before goods enter stock
Report numbers are listed on packing documentation so your receiving team can check each certified stone directly against the issuing laboratory’s own database. We would rather you verified than trusted — a supplier reluctant to give report numbers up front has told you something important.

Stones ship with IGI or GIA reports under your program — check any report number against the issuing lab's own database before you accept the shipment.
